A teenager is set to appear at crown court in August after robbing a pensioner at knifepoint in the street.
On Wednesday, officers in Blackpool were flagged down by a 72-year-old man on Springfield Road in the seaside resort.
The man told police he had just been robbed and had been threatened with a knife before the suspect snatched his rucksack and fled the scene on a bike.
Officers promptly searched the area and found the man – he was stopped and searched and found with a knife, a balaclava and the victim’s belongings.
On Thursday the case was referred to the CPS and Ben Monks, 19, of Sherbourne Road, Blackpool was formally charged with the offences of robbery and possession of a bladed article.
A spokesperson for the police said: “He will appear at crown court for trial on August 18.”
