Lancashire: Pendle revealed as borough with most zero hygiene rates venues

SEVEN venues across East Lancashire have been awarded zero ratings for hygiene, indicating that urgent improvement is necessary.

The ratings provide a basic picture of the standards of hygiene found at the time of inspection, with all seven establishments needing to improve in at least one category.

According to the Food Standards Agency four of the venues were found in Pendle (with an additional establishment that had originally scored a zero rating but is now awaiting a new score), two in Hyndburn and one in Burnley.

Blackburn with Darwen, Rossendale and the Ribble Valley meanwhile were all found to have had no venues with zero ratings.

The inspection have been carried out by the Food Standards Agency and the relevant borough council between 2020 and 2021.

While the vast majority of pubs, restaurants and eateries across the region were found to have maintained adequate or better standards, those with a zero rating will be required to take action

It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.

The food hygiene rating scheme does not provide information on the quality of the food, customer service, culinary skill, presentation or comfort.

All ratings are available to view online on the Food Standard Agency’s website and were correct according to the FSA as of June 14 2021.
