A MAN responding to a distress call from a friend rolled his car after suffering a blow-out.
Blackburn magistrates heard Simon Thompson briefly left the scene of the accident on Pendleton Road, near Clitheroe, but returned and co-operated with the police.
Thompson, 37, of Three Rivers Caravan Park, Eaves Hall Lane, West Bradford, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and other than in accordance with a licence. He was fined £467 with £85 costs and £46 victim surcharge and banned for 40 months.
Richard Prew, defending, said Thompson had family in Sabden and had gone over for a meal and had something to drink.
“He got a call from a friend which caused him to get in his car and drive towards Clitheroe,” said Mr Prew.
“There was a blow-out on one of his rear tyres which caused his car to roll and end up on its roof.”
Mr Prew said it was accepted that drink-driving within six months of his last disqualification ending was an aggravating fact.”
