Coronavirus: Latest figures released for East Lancashire

THE LATEST coronavirus rates have shown that Rossendale has the highest rates of infection in East Lancashire.

However, none of East Lancashire’s boroughs were found to be in the top five most infected in England for the seven days to July 15, according to Public Health England.

Blackburn with Darwen meanwhile has emerged as the local borough with the lowest infection rates, having at one time been the worst affected area in the country.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the most recent four days (July 16-19) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

East Lancashire rates:

Meanwhile of the 315 local areas in England, 307 (97 per cent) have seen a week-on-week rise in rates and eight (3 per cent) have seen a fall.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency based on Public Health England data published on July 19 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
