Body of man found in woods in town centre park

The body of a man has been found in a wooded area in a town centre park.

Police were called to Avenham Park in Preston at 8.15am on Friday (today) after receiving reports from a member of the public who said a man had been found unresponsive in one of the park’s many wooded areas. 

Emergency services were called to the scene but sadly the man was pronounced dead.

The age and identity of the man has not yet been released.

A spokesperson for the police said: “We were called to Avenham Park, Preston, at 8.15am today following reports a member of the public had found a man unresponsive in a wooded area.

“Emergency services attended and, sadly, the man was pronounced deceased.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course.”
