Blackburn: Driver flees after ramming into parked vehicles

A driver fled the scene after crashing into parked vehicles causing damage to the front of a terraced house.

The incident happened on Audley Range in Blackburn last night (Tuesday July 13) at 7.30pm.

Cllr Altaf Patel shared a video showing the aftermath of the crash which involved a parked taxi and a BMW.

Police say the driver of a VW Golf hit the Skoda Octavia taxi and fled the scene. There was also damage to a parked BMW.

Cllr Patel said: “It is lucky nobody was seriously injured in this case. You could have kids playing on the pavement or children walking home from mosque.

“What are people thinking driving like this?

“The resident was extremely shocked following the incident. You can see with how much force the driver must have hit the parked vehicles. The driver I believe fled after the incident.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Cllr Patel said residents want some sort of traffic measures to be put in place.

“There is a need for this on Audley Range, Lincoln Road and Lambeth Street.

“There are some humps on Audley Range but they are worn down and they do not cover all the road. It would make people think twice before they put their foot down.”

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.06pm to reports a VW Golf had crashed into a stationary Skoda Octavia.

“The driver of the Golf left the scene without providing any details. Enquiries are ongoing to identify that individual. Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting log 1302 of July 13, 2021.”
