A 72-year-old man was robbed at knife-point in broad daylight.
On Wednesday, officers in Blackpool were flagged down by a pensioner on Springfield Road in the seaside resort.
The man told police he had just been robbed and had been threatened with a knife before the suspect snatched his rucksack and fled the scene on a bike.
Officers promptly searched the area and found the man – he was stopped and searched and found with the knife used in the robbery, a balaclava and the victim’s belongings.
A spokesperson for the police said: “On Wednesday July 14 at around 11am, Blackpool Neighbourhood TaskForce were on patrol and were flagged down by a 72-year-old gentleman on Springfield Road, Blackpool who stated he had been robbed.
“The suspect, a 19-year-old male, threatened the victim with a knife and demanded his rucksack, which was then promptly snatched from him and the suspect left the scene on his bicycle.
“Officers have conducted an area search and located the male who matched the description on Cocker Street, he was stopped and searched and found to still be in possession of the knife, a balaclava, and the victims belongings.”
The teenager was arrested and taken to custody for the offences of robbery and possession of a bladed article.
